What the work is
An HR specialist helps a company find, keep and develop its people. They take part in hiring and onboarding, organise performance reviews and training, work on engagement and feedback, help managers resolve conflicts and advise employees on HR questions. In a small company they often run the whole function alone.
A typical day
A meeting with a department head about a new vacancy and what the candidate needs. A welcome session for two new starters. Preparing an engagement survey and going through the results of the last one. A conversation with an employee who wants to move to another team. Updating the quarter’s training plan.
