What the work is
A hotel administrator welcomes guests and makes sure their stay goes well. They take bookings, check guests in and out, register them — foreign guests included — as the rules require, take payment, sort out room issues, coordinate housekeeping, the restaurant and maintenance, and handle complaints.
A typical day
The shift handover: today’s bookings, guests’ special requests, open issues. Checking in a tour group and registering their documents. A call about a late check-out and a check on whether the room is free. Resolving a noise complaint by offering another room. Replying to a guest’s review on a booking site.
How to start
- Build hospitality, resilience and care with documents.
- Learn languages: English and Russian are especially in demand in tourist cities.
- Learn booking systems and cash handling.
- Many people start with an internship at reception or in reservations.
