Methodology ct1Draft for review by experts and native speakers
Guidance, not a diagnosis. The career test follows methodology
ct1. It suggests which professions to start exploring, but it does not measure your abilities and does not decide anything for you. The Platform team wrote the questions and the method; a career guidance expert reviews them.
How the test works
The test has two stages and takes about 7 minutes. You need no account and no email address, and the test does not ask your age.
- Stage 1 — the sphere. 12 questions about your interests, working style and environment: what you would rather deal with — people, data, things or ideas. Some questions ask you to pick one of four options, others use a scale from "not me at all" to "exactly me".
- Stage 2 — the role. 8 questions about tasks inside your leading sphere: what exactly in that sphere suits you best.
The eight spheres
- Technology and IT — IT & Software Development;
- Engineering and production — Engineering;
- Finance and economics — Finance & Accounting;
- Marketing, media and design — Marketing;
- Sales, service and tourism — Sales; Hospitality & Tourism;
- Health and medicine — Healthcare;
- Education — Education;
- People and law — Human Resources; Legal.
The spheres hold the 47 professions of the Platform's register. In stage 2, every profession has a role of its own.
How the scores are computed
- In stage 1, every answer option adds 0 to 3 points to one or more spheres. On the scale, points grow from "not me at all" (0) to "exactly me" (3).
- A sphere's score is the points it collected divided by the most it could have collected over the 12 questions. This puts every sphere on the same 0–100 % scale, however many questions touch it.
- The leading sphere has the highest score. Ties follow the order of the table above.
- Two close spheres. If the second sphere trails the first by less than 10 % of the first sphere's score, stage 2 asks 4 questions about each of the two spheres instead of 8 about one.
- In stage 2, every option adds points to one or two roles of the sphere. A role's score is the points it collected divided by the most it could have collected over the questions asked.
What you will see
- 3–5 professions. With one sphere — up to 5 professions with the highest role scores; with two spheres — 3 professions of the leading sphere and 2 of the second. A profession with a role score of zero is not shown as long as at least three remain.
- How close: "very close" — a role score of 70 % or more, "close" — 45 % or more, "worth a look" — below that.
- Why: the answers that gave the profession the most points, and a line on what in this work matches your choices.
- What next: the profession's key skills by tier, the salary benchmark (when there is enough data), open vacancies, the interview trainer and the profession page.
On equal scores, professions follow the order of the register, so the same answers always give the same result.
What the test is not
- It is not a psychological or aptitude test: it does not measure personality, intelligence or fitness for a profession.
- It is not career counselling: discuss your result with your university's career centre.
- Employers and universities do not see the result, and it does not change your vacancy matches until you mark the spheres in your job preferences yourself.
Where the result is kept
- Your answers and the result are kept only in your browser, for 30 days. "Forget my result" deletes them at once. On a shared computer, press it after the test.
- The Platform does not receive a guest's answers. It counts only the number of test steps per day, language and source — without cookies or any identifier of a person.
- After signing in you can press "Save my result". The server re-computes the result from your answers and keeps your last 5 results in your profile; you can delete any of them.
- A "share" link carries only the suggested professions — never answers or scores.
Limitations
- The questions and weights are the team's first version. A career guidance expert reviews them before the public launch, and we will check their reliability on the pilot's answers.
- The test covers only the 47 professions of the register: a profession that suits you may be outside the list.
- Native speakers proofread the Uzbek and English texts.
